Mary Bue wraps-up her Hook and Ladder residency with a donation-based holiday show with her band The Monarchy, Jeremy Ylvisaker (The Suburbs, Andrew Bird, HALEY, Jenny Lewis, Alpha Consumer), Steve Price (The Suburbs, Rex Daisy), Richard Medek (Kevin Costner, Eric Koskinen, Mol ly, Maher) and occasional string section Jul ia Floberg (Delphia Cel lo Quartet, Mestofonia) & Shannon Frid-Rubin (Cloud Cult, batterboy). Also featuring, jazzy-jangle-poppers, Joannes & The Secret Life. KFAI DJ Krista Wax will be in the lounge spinning two sets (MSP Sound, Tuesday nights midnight-2am on KFAI 90.3FM).

Full-intensity living without a second taken for granted -- that is Mary Bue’s m.o. After moving to Minneapolis in 2016, she has found herself with the band of her dreams and an 8th album in the works to reflect the intense philosophy of the title track, The World is Your Lover. "The world constantly provides us with opportunities to grow, change, and fall in love over and over. Every experience an opportunity to deepen." Rising out of the trauma of sexual assault as sang of in her 2017 EP The Majesty of Beasts, divorce from her husband and bandmate, the opening and closing of her yoga studio, and venturing out into an unknown future, Mary’s new album is full of power pop, piano dream waves, and layers of shimmery 90’s influenced guitars to defy and even proudly display the battle scars.
